In 20 time today, we are going to continue looking for the basis of products and start to figure out the details of what we are doing. We are going to divide of work and start getting things prepared for later. Our plan is to make blessing jars. Basically what that is, is mason jars that we will decorate and sell. Everytime something good or worth remembering happens, you write it on a piece of paper and put it in the jar.

We decided to change our product today. We all felt like the blessing jars would not sell and that they would be too expensive. We still have the same goal and are trying to do the same thing, but now with phone cases. I have a strange obsession with phone cases and I thought it would be cool to make some. That is when I realized that phone cases could be our product to sell. We started researching them and got much further than we ever did with the mason jars. Even though we somewhat started over, we worked hard today and were able to get to the point that we wanted to be at. We have DIY ideas, a complete action plan, and places to purchase plain phone cases. I am very happy that we trying something new because we are all more excited about the project now and think that it could be more successful.

Today we made an email and all of the social media accounts for our company including instagram, twitter, tumblr, and etsy. These social media accounts will let people see our phone cases and get an idea of what we have to offer. It will also be a good way to communicate our ideas and see what customers think. Our company is officially called “Cases for Cancer”. This is because we decided to sell our cases and donate the money to Relay for Life, which is a cancer fundraiser we were all apart of last year. Since it’s coming up in the spring, we have enough time to get our business and all of our supplies together.

Today in 20 time we got a lot done. We created our sales pitch and cleared up all of the confusion that was going on. We came up with the purpose of our project, and we created a google presentation. We looked online for images and we found some ideas for what we want to do. We decided that in order to separate ourselves from the other group that is making phone cases, our will be personalized. The customer will be able to tell us what letters or items they want on their cases. However if they tell us they want it, we will try to do it. That is what we hope will make our business successful, being able to change designs based on what the customer wants. We will have to see how the business goes and then make adjustments according to that. We also put the mentor contract on your desk.

Today in 20 Time, we looked at more do-it-yourself phone case ideas. We have found several websites that give you step by step directions on how to make these types of cases. We found glitter phone cases, studded phone cases, chevron phone cases, and spray painted phone cases. These designs look the best on plain clear and white phone cases. Also, we have started coming up with a more detailed list of materials that we need, including Mod Podge and gloss finish spray. We are looking into what phone cases we want to use and what would be the most economic choice. In order to help us make this decision, we started looking into business plans as well.

Today in 20 time, we were trying to decide exactly on what phone cases we want to use. We are having trouble because we are thinking that some of the places we are wanting to buy from aren’t very reliable. Their pictures don’t match their product description and we don’t want to spend money on something that we can’t rely on being exactly what we want. Also, a lot of the phone cases are very expensive, not getting good reviews, or take too long to ship. We know that we want hard shell cases the also come around to the front of the phone so that if you drop it, it will not crack. We are finding a lot of hard snap on cases that aren’t protective and gel cases. We have been considering adding gel cases later but we really want to start with hard cases because you can do more things with them decorating wise. We continued looking at some designs and are getting more and more ideas on how our customers would be able to personalize their phone cases. We are really hoping that our customers will like our ideas!

2-21-14

We officially decided on the phone case that we are going to order. Each of our group members will have to spend $10.00 because the total cost for the shipping and handling and the cost of the cases is $40.00. Amela and Anna signed up for Relay for Life on the East Broncos Alumni team because we hadn’t signed up again yet. Erin has already signed up for Relay for Life and Annie has not signed up yet. We started creating our new website on Wix. We are planning on ordering the phone cases tonight, and they should come in on Thursday, February 27th at the latest.

Today in 20 time, we did not do a ton because we were all at renaissance lunch for most of the class. While were were there however, we worked on our website and checked on our order for the phone cases. They should be in within the next few days!!! The website is really coming together, but we really need some pictures! The problem is, we can’t take pictures yet because we haven’t made phone cases. Once they come in, we need to hurry and get on that.

We decided on 5 different designs for our phone cases and found out all of the materials that we are planning on using. We also found some coupons that will help reduce the cost of our materials. We are planning on buying our supplies at Michaels. We have decided to meet on Saturday to buy all of the supplies and start making the phone cases. We think that we will make 1 of each design to start and almost have a trial and error day.

3-21-14

Today, I had renaissance lunch so I was not there for most of 20 time, but when I returned, my group and I had good discussions about what we need to do. Amela had made some equations for determining how much to sell the phone cases for, so we also discussed those. We found that even with the equations, we should still be selling the phone cases for around 10 dollars, which was our original plan.We also decided that we need to make a lot of phone cases to sell at the Relay for Life Event because that might be our best selling point. We are going to try to sell some before as well, but we are running out of time and I’m not sure that we are fully ready to start selling yet. We all think that selling the phone cases at Relay for Life should be good because people buy these kinds of things there, but we will see! We need to plan another time to make some more phone cases soon, I think we will do that next weekend.I have just photographed all of the cases that we have made so far, and I need to upload them onto the website and onto our social media so that we can launch all of that stuff. I should be able to get the pictures up sometime this week.I think that we also need to start coming up with some new ideas because right now we have 4 basic designs. We can use different colors on the designs that we already have, but we also need to branch out even more in my opinion. We need to start spreading the word about our phone cases to hopefully see how this will turn out! I think that soon Cases for Cancer will start selling!

Today was very helpful in terms of knowing where we stand and what we still need to get accomplished. Relay for life is almost exactly one month away, so we really needed to figure out what we still need to do. We brought the phone cases that we have made so far to get people’s opinion on them. Everyone liked them which is really good. When we asked which one was people’s favorite, everyone picked a different phone case. This was a little bit unexpected, but it was also the result that we wanted because we want to make a phone case that fits all personalities. We have only made 6 phone cases, so we need to make the rest of them before Relay for Life. We also need to start advertising! So far we have not began selling, but I think we should be ready to soon. The cases we brought to school were the white daisies with the solid lavender background, the turquoise to dark blue ombré case, the pink cloudy one with the cross, and the dark shade of grey with glitter tinsel case. I made the blue ombre case, Amela made the white daisies and lavender case, Anna made the dark grey with gold glitter tinsel case, and I also made the pink and white swirled one with the cross. We are looking to make more cases very soon, possibly new designs, but mainly just copies of the designs we already have.

Today in 20 time, we did a lot. I started with a specific goal to photoshop 5 pictures. What I wanted to do was make everything in the image with the exception of the phone cases transparent so that when we put them on the website, it would look more professional. I already knew how to do this because I learned a lot about photoshop in a 7th grade yearbook class. I had already taken individual pictures of each phone case, plus a picture with all four of the cases together on both white and black backgrounds because I was not sure which would photoshop better. As I started trying to photoshop the pictures, I could not get the transparent background that I wanted. I ended up using most of the class watching youtube video tutorials on how to get a transparent. It was basically a waste of time because at the end of class I tried rebooting it, and it worked. I ended up getting 1 out of 5 pictures photoshopped, but now I know what to do if I run into this problem again. While I was doing that, Anna and Amela were working on an advertisement that will be sent out to all of the teachers. We had no idea that this coming week was our week to have our project shown to all of our teachers. I’m worried because I know that our project is not ready, our website is still mainly just a template because we don’t have pictures ready. I wish that we would have gotten a little bit more than one days notice to get everything ready.
